Las Comunicaciones is an exclusive residential area with the Sierra Escalona pine forest and nature reserve as a backdrop (a great place for nature lovers to enjoy long walks through unspoilt scenery), and the town centre of San Miguel itself only a short drive (about 5 minutes) away.  The nearest bar/restaurants are Pimientos (international cuisine) and Alingui (located in the castle of Conesa about 2 km or 30 minutes walk away), but if you have transport or have a taxi you can choose between all the eating establishments in San Miguel, Villamartín plaza, La Fuente etc.  But one of our favourite places to head for, whether it´s for a great meal or to enjoy being by the seaside is the fabulous beach resort of Mil Palmeras, which is easily reached via a very pleasant 15 minute drive through citrus groves and past golf courses and pine forest.
