Since last Friday, new confinement relaxation measures came into force. In the municipalities with 10,000 inhabitants —almost 90% of the municipalities and where 10% of the population lives—, regardless of the phase in which they are, the time slots for walks and sports activities have been removed, those under the age of 14 years can go out accompanied by more than one adult and open-air markets and the opening of bars and restaurants are authorized. In the Community of Madrid, children can go for a walk from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00 . However, throughout Spain the use of a mask is already mandatory "On public roads, in outdoor spaces and in any closed space for public use or that is open to the public, provided that it is not possible to maintain a distance" of two meters.

It is not yet possible to know when all of Spain will reach the "new normal" flame. The Executive had already advanced that there were no specific dates for each phase, although it had advanced that the intention is that the plan should be extended until the end of June, just before the strong summer season begins.

Markers to change phase

These are the indicators that will help the territorial units —provinces or islands— to advance or go back in phase:

  • Strategic capacities of the health system: primary care, situation of hospitals and ICU beds available.
  • Epidemiological situation: diagnoses, rate of infection and other indicators.
  • Compliance with collective protection measures in the workplace, commerce and public transport.
  • Evaluation of mobility and socioeconomic data.

Calendar

Although no specific dates have been set, there is an approximate calendar. The four phases of the transition to the new normal plan will run until the end of June. A minimum period of two weeks will pass between each phase, which will be extended if the markers indicate so.
