This 5 bedroom luxury detached villa has been transformed by the current owners into a dream home over a period of several years.  So much thought and effort has gone into realising the full potential of this villa, that we were awe-struck when we were invited to view it recently, having seen it prior to the many improvements that have been made.

The home is on 2 levels, with 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the ground floor, and an additional 2 bedrooms and  1 bathrooms on the lower floor.  The master bedroom is a real show-stopper with its archways, en-suite bathroom and patio doors to the pool area making it VERY special.  Also on the ground floor are two double bedrooms, one of which also has an en-suite bathroom, a family bathroom, large kitchen-dining area (the dining area was previously a bedroom and could be returned to one if you prefer an extra bedroom), and spacious semi-circular lounge with fireplace.

The lower floor houses guest accomodation (lounge, kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms and a workshop) and is accessed via a short flight of external stairs to the rear of the property.  

There is also a brick-built laundry-room/office and brick shed to the rear of the property.

We still haven´t mentioned the private solarium, or the garage!  Plus, the swimming pool is heated (with cover), to allow you to swim the whole year round!

The location does not disappoint either, being part of the Las Comunicaciones residential area of San Miguel de Salinas, about 2-3 km from the town centre of San Miguel itself, and only 15 minutes drive to all the best beach resorts and golf courses that this area is famous for.

For nature-lovers the Sierra Escalona nature reserve is almost on your doorstep (it can be accessed 100 metres from your front gate) where you can walk for hours enjoying the unspoilt beauty of a pristine pine forest with lots of interesting flora and fauna to discover.  The paths that traverse it are also suitable for mountain bikes.

Pimiento´s Restaurant is 650 metres away, where you can enjoy fine dining with great views and very reasonable prices.  They often have live music and wine-tasting events etc in the busier months.

Our favourite beach resort is Mil Palmeras, which is easily accessed via a country road that winds through citrus groves and pine trees, past the golf courses of Campoamor and Las Colinas.  There are lots of great restaurants there, the sand is beautiful and there are great walks along the coast.

San Miguel de Salinas

San Miguel de Salinas is a very popular Spanish town just 15 minutes drive from the beaches of Mil Palmeras, Campoamor, Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Torrevieja, La Mata, Guardamar etc and surrounded by beautiful countryside which includes citrus and almond groves and the national park of Sierra Escalona right on our doorstep. You can walk and cycle for miles along the canal which runs right next to the town.

There are a great variety of bars and restaurants, both Spanish and international (the annual tapas run event is very popular!). If you are looking for a holiday destination or a place to live all year round, San Miguel is a great choice as it has all amenities (excellent primary and secondary schools, banks, health centre which never closes, 3 pharmacies, large outdoor swimming pool, football and athletics stadium, 5-a-side football pitch, tennis courts, padel courts, basketball courts, petanca, crown green bowls etc) and maintains the same rhythm throughout the year (ie not too busy in the summer, and not too quiet in the winter).

The pace of life is gentle and relaxing, and prices in the bars tend to be more reasonable than the coast. The weekly Wednesday street market is a great opportunity to stock up on locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, hams, cheeses, olives, clothes and shoes etc, before having a drink and tapas in one of our friendly tavernas!

There is a good local taxi service and buses run several times daily to Torrevieja, Orihuela and Murcia. Alicante and Murcia airport are both approx 40 mins drive away.  Internet services are generally fast (fibre-optic) and reliable.  San Miguel is a place where you can enjoy a taste of traditional Spanish life and culture, whilst being close enough to the coast to enjoy all the great things the Costa Blanca has to offer. ¡Bienvenidos a San Miguel de Salinas!
